Default Washer drains while in the wash and rinse cycles.
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 82372820
Age: More than 10 years

My Series 70 washer has just started to drain the tub while in the wash and rinse cycles. The machine has not been moved and has operated flawlessly for years. When the water level gets low the cycle stops and the tub begins to fill until the proper level is reached, then the cycle starts again.

I saw Shelia's reply to a previous post about a wig wag not sure if that was serious or not.

Thanks in advance for any help you can supply.

Your washer does have a piece in it that is call the control magnet or wig wag.

It does sound funny but that is what the part does. It wigs and wags back and forth.

But I think the problem with your washer may be the flap in the pump has broken.

You will have to remove the pump to check it.

The only other thing that it might be is the washer is siphon draining.

Take the drain hose out of the stand pipe and hold in a bucket.

If the washer does not drain the water you may have to put in a siphon break.

Here is a link to the parts of your washer model 11082372820.

Default Same problem

I have exactly the same problem. The pump is draining the tub during the wash cycle. Should the pump be running during this wash cycle? I removed the pump and inspected the valve. All seems to be in order and the valve is activated after the tub fills. This problem is very perplexing, I'm wondering if I don't have a timer issue, it doesn't seem as if the pump should be running at this time.
