Smile Washer drains and spins at same time
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LSQ8243HQ0
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi washer guru's. Ive got a question about my washer. This washer has faithfuly has eatin a timer about every two years since it was new the washer is now 8 years old and i just replaced the fourth timer today. It had two timers replaced under warranty and two out of warranty {ouch}. My question is when you go to wash a load of clothes it will go through the wash cycle just fine - high speed agitate for so many minutes and then slow speed agitate for so many minutes and then the washer will enter the drain and rince cycle, when it starts to drain it also starts to spin the drum at the same time while it is still full of water. My guess is when this thing goes to spin out full of water it is causing an unusually high amp draw and is burning out the contacts in the timer. Our local repair guy says this is a normal condition and my guess is that it isnt. So my question is what would cause this washer to drain the water and engage the spin cycle at the same time. I have checked the water level switch and it is switching to both poles like it should. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Nothing is wrong with timer, you have an automatic transmission, that when it's time to rinse & spin the motor runs backward and pumps water then after a set number of minutes, the motor stops for a couple of seconds then starts running backwards again and shifts to spin.
When after wash and time for rinse & spin, your trans missions' shifter dosen't wait and goes into spin. There used to be a new shifter kit to repair trans, messy with oil all over the floor ect. repairmen simply just replaced the trans. I won't sell a washer with this problem. but my wife dosen't mind the problem and just runs it with the trans problem at our house.
