Angry Washer doesn't stop agitating when spin tries to start
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: Gallery
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a frigidaire gallery soundsilencer plus tumbleaction washer (One of them expensivo front loaders),
about three years old. The other day it started making this awful buzz/grind noise so I investigated.

During the wash cycle the thing goes clockwise for several seconds, then counter clockwise
several seconds and then repeats. Then it stops, pump kicks in and drains the cavity.
Then the spin cycle NORMALLY starts up with this high speed jet engine sound spin. This is
all normal but during the pump cycle the wash cycle agitation does not stop, and then
the bad noise happens when the spin TRIES to kick in but can't because the wash cycle
is STILL going on.

So my questions are, do you think this is an electronic control issue, or a clutch
issue or something else, and whatever the problem, what to do to fix? On a scale of
1 to 10 on fixing stuff I'm about a 4 or 5, and would not be offended if the answer
is 'get a pro in'. In fact I'd welcome it if that is what I would eventually end up
having to do this....

You have bad spin basket front and rear shell bearings=bad news, prepare to spend lots of money.
Verify you have no other problems like control problems. Then evaluate if it's worth repair.

Wow... that sucks. Thank you for the reply; I'm going to get a pro to come out and look at it.

Just curious; would frequent overloading of the washer cause this?
