Default Washer does not operate. All LEDs flash continuously
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WPSE4200AOWW
Age: 5 - 10 years

My control board in my washer was damaged by a power surge (possibly a lightning strike). I ordered a new board and installed it. The washer still does not operate. As soon as it is plugged in, all LEDs on the front panel begin flashing simultaneously and continuously. The washer does not operate. Flashing the LEDs is the only thing it does.

The original board was obviously burned and had a damaged capacitor and a burned resister near the transformer. I do not know if there is anything else that could have been damaged by a power surge. I do not see any physical signs of damage to anything else in the machine.

The machine was not in use at the time of the power surge.

Is there anything else I can check? Should I assume the new control board I received was defective?

I think the Model number is WPSE4200AOWW or WPSE4200A0WW. To be honest, I can't tell the letter O from the number 0. People keep asking if I am sure of the model number. Maybe I'm confusing the similar looking letter O and the numeral zero. I see a matching number listed on the GE site but I still can't tell if the circular characters are numerals or letters.

It is either WPSE4200AOWW or WPSE4200A0WW. I am not certain if the circular characters are numerals (zeros) or letters. A similar number can be found on the GEAppliance.com web site.

The board may need to be set.

Do you still have the owner's manual that came with the washer?

Default Reset according to owner's manual instructions

Yes, I still have the manual. It says to reset the electronics, unplug washer for 2 minutes, then plug back in and push the START button. I did that when I first installed the board. Nothing but flashing LEDs. Washer has been unplugged for several days now. I just plugged it in again and pressed START. Nothing but flashing LEDS.

The flashing LEDs may be indicating an error code. Most newer appliances with electronic controls has this feature. Somewhere in the washer or the manual there should be chart listing the error codes meanings.

You may have a bad board. The only thing is most parts places will not take back electrical parts.
