My washer, which has been in storage for about 1 year, will not fill up with water and start the agitation cycle. It starts to fill up but then it starts to drain out before it gets to the agitate cycle. I have tried to switch the water level knob back and forth from large to small and this will sometimes result in the washer going into the agitation cycle. Could this switch be bad or is there more to this?

It sounds like the washer is siphoning itself out.

How high it your stand pipe that the drain hose goes into?

It must be at lease as high as the top of the washer or the water will not stay in the tub.
