Default Washer Basket Won't Sit Level
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: lxr7244pq0
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hi All...

Well, I took apart my washer and took the basket out because it was moldy. I put everything back together, and now the basket won't sit perfectly level with the "hole" up top. If you're looking at the washer standing in front of it, the basket wants to lean towards the "5:00" position.

Now, I've taken it apart a few times, and all the springs are back in (they can only hook to one place each), the machine "frame" is level, it runs, washes, spins perfectly fine. However, when water pours in from the "shower head" at the 12:00 position, some of the water drains BEHIND the basket and drains to the floor (into the catch pan).

You have to babysit the machine during it's fill times (initially and when the rinse cycle starts) to push the basket back level so all the water pours in where it's supposed to.

What gives? I cannot imagine I screwed up the suspension springs. And the springs are not worn out or one more stretched more than the other or anything. The basket ONLY goes in one way. Parts of the motor and what looks like a filter does hang near the 5:00 position, so it has more mass there, and seemingly drags the basket that way.

It did not do this before I took it apart. What am I missing???

Thanks,

Emrah

did you put the counter balance spring back? There are three springs of the same type ( the springs are attached to a bracket which is held by one screw and has a locator for the other hole) AND, there is a counter balance spring that pulls the whole motor and tub assembly back to keep the whole assemby leaning to the back.
