Default Washer agitates, but won't spin or drain
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: lsq8243hqo
Age: 5 - 10 years

Sorry if this is similar to other posts...but looking for confirmation. Washer fills, agitates fine, but will not spin or drain. Instead, I hear "noises" like ticking and/or buzzing from the timer switch. I read other posts, and don't think it is the lid switch (hear it click when opening/closing. Makes no difference. So, does this sound like the timer switch? Or, could it be anything else? Does the fact that it agitates rule out the motor or pump?

I'd hate to buy timer and that not be the problem since it is probably 1/3 the cost of new machine.

Thanks for any advice....

Have you tried the spin cycle with out water in the washer?

Will it spin in any cycle or do you get the same sounds?

There may be something in the pump not allowing it to drain.
