Our Kenmore washer (100.28882790) just stopped spinning. It fills, agitates, empties, and fills for spin. Then, there is this loud clanking or clacking sound coming from the bowels of the washer. Then it will empty at the end of the spin cycle. Seems like the timer is working OK, as it the pump and the door switch.
Coupling? Clutch? Tranny?

It is could be a faulty lid switch or it could be the clutch.

You will have to check the switch with a meter.

The noise could be the clutch.

You will have to open the washer up and see what is making the noise.
