Front load washers will not spin if the door is not locked.

This can be caused by a faulty door lock.

It may be an electronic board.

Default kenmore washer front loader

Hi Sheila

Door appears to be locked, and light is on. What electronic part could it be and is there a part number?

If the door is locked and the light is on I would say it is not that.

It could also be the timer.

Will the unit still wash in the wash cycle?

If it does not then it could be the belt or the timer.

If you can eliminate all other possibilities then it could be the timer.

It is better to have a qualified technician come out and have a look at it.

Here is a link to the list of parts for your washer model number 417.29042992.

It sounds like the motor speed control. If agitates at the correct speed and the spin cycle does not, there is a motor speed controller in the washer that could be causing this problem.
