Default Washer
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KAWE577BWH1
Age: More than 10 years

I have a Kitchen Aid Washer that's about 11 years old. After taking off the back, I found a small pile of black "soot" which appeared to come from the drive belt. I can see the damaged belt, but cannot find out how to take it off and replace with a new one since it's wrapped around the pump. Is there an easy solution to replacing it without dismantling the pump?

You don't have a belt with this washer, you have a coupler.
Put back panel on and refer to applianceaid.com for take apart info for a direct drive washer. You will need to pull outer panel and take off the pump, motor and coupler to tranny.

Have the same problem, slightly different model since it's Canadian, I'll let you know what the service guy does tomorrow

Wingnut took Appyguys and Bettys advise and pulled the motor and pump off and what I found was what he said. After you pull the pump off you'll find a round plastic coupler with a rubber ring on it, which will be chewed up. On the motor is the other part of the plastic coupler. They were joined together at one time as one piece but sheared off. It's easy to take off, the other half of the coupler takes a bit of work, at least mine did. From what I see it looks like it was one piece, with a rubber gasket inside. It's plastic. I'm going to Kitchenaid tomorrow to grap a part for it. If they make metals ones I'll get one. Let you know how it goes hope to have it up and running by tomorrow
