Default Wash-tub bottom seal replacement
Brand: Amana
Model Number: LWA50AW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello all,

My Anana washer LWA50AW started leaking (not bad after 9 years) through very bottom seal of wash-tub. To get to it, I removed agitator, bell, seal and got to the grooved shaft with a nut. The way it's assembled contradicts with drawings presented on this site. Particularly, there is external tooth washer on top of the nut, not under it like on the drawing (#8). Any idea how this part is assembled?
The problem is that I cannot undo this nut with a reasonable force. I can apply more force but afraid to break something down the line since I don't know the design. Please advise.
Thanks much in advance, George.

The only thing that will break is the washer which you will have to replace anyway.

The diagram is correct.

Here is a link to your washer model LWA50AW.
