Angry Warning Frigdaire does not have parts
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: fex831
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a Frigdaire washer dryer combo that just turned 3 years old this month.
I needed a washer to be replaced on the transmission that costs 2.50 but
can not find it any where on the internet,I called frigdaire and was told
this part is no longer available as it was dicontined over a year ago.
I could`nt belive it here I have a washer that cost me 900.00 and now cost
over 1100. to replace it and I can`t get a washer for it from fridgaire, this unbelivable. They told me they would give 20% back if I bought a new one,
I told them to shove it as I will never buy any thing with the name Frigadaire on it.
Let this be a warning if any one is thinking about buying Frigdaire products
and you need any parts for repair.
I want to thank Shelia for all the help she has given me on how to take this dog apart and how to fix it,bu tnow it all was all for naught.
I hope I saved some one a major headache with this notice.
Thank you again Shelia you were great.

My question is, have you thought about calling around to frigdaire repair men, that fix these washers every day, and ask if they have a n.o.s part# and see if a repair man has one rolling around in his toolbox? When I need an old discontinued part, I call around and track one down. But one thing I don't let who I call that they don't make it any more, the price automaticaly goes up 1000 percent

I was interested in your topic because I need to work on the transmission on a unit similar to yours. I am stuck at getting the agitator out. Is there any kind of retaining nut or snap ring? I have taken other models apart and a good tug was all that was required. This one is either stuck or I am missing something. In any event, the agitator is plastic and I don't want to bust it getting it apart.
