Default Unbalanced at spin start
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MAH5500BWW
Age: 5 - 10 years

My Neptune washer is unbalanced at the start of the spin cycle. After it gets going, it seems fine. At the start, it is going to walk across the floor.
I replaced the struts and that did not solve the problem.
Any ideas?..... I have a shotgun to put it out of my misery!!

Check to make sure that the washer is level and the feet are locked.

If the floor is weak this can happen.

Here is a link to your washer model MAH5500BWW.

Thank you for the reply. I leveled the machine and it is sitting on a slab floor. I can't find my installation instrucitons. I am not sure what you mean: "the feet are locked." Is there something under the machine on the threaded legs?
Thanks.

There are two nut on the legs one locks the other in place.

If the washer balances out after a bit it should be fine.

In order to walk it would have to stay unbalanced.

Mine does the same thing it moves a bit about an inch or so but works itself out.
