Default Tub spins during agitator cycle
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WCSR2070
Age: 5 - 10 years

When the washer goes into the agitate cycle, the tub is loose and
starts spinning. I'm not sure which part I need to replace.

Thanks,

Ron

Post Tub probably broke loose

You will have to check to see if the tub is loose from the transmission, by lifting on the sides of the inner tub. if that is the case you will have to replace the split ring washer and the bolt that holds the tub on. that involves taking the inner and outer tub out the front with the motor and every thing. the bolt is a backwards thread. check to make sure. check for damage to the hub on the bottom of the inner tub. if damaged badly you will have to replace that also . the tub has to be torqued to 110 lbs with a 43mm socket, 2' extention, a torque wrench that torque's counter clockwise. the tub needs to be put back on while it is out so you can get enough leverage to torque it on.

Default Likely is transmission

I've examined the tub -- it has not broken loose and still spins during
the spin cycle.

I've found a web page that identifies the problem as the brake
assembly -- which means i need to replace the whole transmission.
