I have a GE and had the same prob. I replaced the drive belt. If yours is loose, and has never been replaced, you should replace it. Make sure the belt is TIGHT on the pulleys. Mine works like a champ --- the tub still rotated when I first installed it but I found that I did not get the belt tight enough. Hope this helps. BTW---- my belt cost $3.00 at the local appliance parts place. If you have more than one parts stores, check prices. I called 3 places and was quoted $12.00, $9.00, and $3.00.
DO NOT try to improvise by buying an automotive belt!
