Default Tub binding on spin cycle Help remove tub
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.22922100
Age: 1 - 4 years

Trying to tear it down right now to see what is binding the tub during a spin cycle. The tub moves somewhat easy for 180deg then binds - sometimes to the point that I can not move it. There had been no unusual noise prior to the problem.
I suspect a brake or bearing issue.

So far I did get the covers off and was trying to seperate the gear case from the tub by removing the 3 scews on the gearcase, but was unable to pull the drive off.

I have put the unit on its front so I could get access to the bottom (not sure of that was OK)

Take the two screws out on bottom of control panel and tilt panel back, then remove cabinet clips and spn switch connector, then remove entire outer cabinet from base.
Then remove cover on tub, remove agitator ans take off big nut holding the spin basket on drive block.
Tap on spin basket to losten and then romove spin basket. Check for anything in tub
If nothing you probably have dragging brake shoes.
Remove tranny and pry down spin tube to remove brake shoes. You can grind down the shoes half way, soak in light oil and put back in. Next trick is to remember how everything goes back together.
