Default Tub Bearing
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LAT8804AAE
Age: More than 10 years

Hi

14 year old Maytag washer.
4 kids through cloth diapers, no real issues, can't complain too loud.
Burning smell on spin cycle, tub belt slipping on motor pulley.
Motor tensioning springs and slide mechanism seem OK.
Replace belts - not much better.
No oil on floor.
If I spin transmission by hand to start, cycle will finish OK
$120 to replace main tub bearing and stem seal+hub assmebly (parts #23 and #29) on tub diagram.
Also think I may need a spanner wrench unless I can manage with other tools.

? Will this likely fix the problem
? Can i just replace the main tub bearing ?
? Something else wrong

Thanks
