Default Too much hot water
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: HE3
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a kenmore HE3 front loader (model number 44832) that is filling with hot water, no matter the setting.
I set it to cold/cold delicate wash - it started filling with cold water (lots of good flow); then it switched to being some cold with mostly hot water. The water in the tub was steaming. All the other settings result in the same....it starts out normally but then it switches to lots of hot water. Usually it rinses with cold water, but a few times my clothes were hot at the end of the wash - rinse water was very hot.

I replaced the temperature sensor in the bottom of the tub, but nothing changed. Sears repairman had no clue what the problem is, but he recommended I change the control board.
Could this be a valve problem?
Help - all my clothes are shrunken and faded!

If the sensor did no correct your problem there is a problem with the CCU.

The water valves receive a control signal from the Central Control Unit (CCU)

Can you please verify your model number?

The number you gave it the stock number.

The model number can be found on the left side of the door opening.

Thanks for the reply....my model is 110 44832 200- Kenmore HE3 based on Whirlpool Duet model.
Yesterday, I figured out that it was probably the CCU- my husband used his meter to check whether the valves were getting power. During the end of a cold cycle, the hot valve was open for so long that my clothes were steaming. He found that the CCU was not sending any power to the cold valve...and keeping the hot valve open too long.

Maybe I will bite the bullet and order a new CCU. I know that this will be a recurring problem given the fact that the CCU manufacturer does not make moisture-proof boards. Any suggestions on making it moisture-proof myself?
