Unhappy Timer Knob Won't Catch
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: VBXR1060T5WB
Age: More than 10 years

the timer knob on the washing machine won't catch unless i try a bunch of times and it happens to let me turn it slowly to the correct setting. how do i check it and is this something that requires a new part (s) or a professional repair person of is it a potentially DIY job?
THANKS

Pull out knob, you'll see what looks like a flat plastic bobby pin. take a very small flat screwdriver, and gently try to push it off. When it's off you'll see that the little teeth are broken. Use model # and order new one .Bettyboop

I'd save it just in case it dosen't come with one. By the way put the keeper clip
on the new knob, then push new knob and the clip(bobby pin) will click on, and knob is ready to go. P.S. when old knob is off, check for bad teeth on the part the knob moves, could be bad too!!!! Bettyboop
