Default Timer Knob
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LA5500XTWO
Age: More than 10 years

RE: PART # 3349233

I used this part number to replace the old timer knob, but the knob does not work as well as before.

Now, I need to push down on the knob in order to turn the dial. Before, the knob turned easier without pushing on it. Also, the knob threading inside looks different.

Question: Do I need to replace the whole dial assembly to work properly with the new knob or did I get the wrong Timer knob?

Thanks for any advice you have.

The old style whirlpool knob had 1/4 -20 threads, some of the plastic timer knobs on the newer generation machines, look like the old knobs, but are slotted, and are held on by a black plastic keeper. I suppose if they gave you a newer one by mistake, it might go on, but it would slip because it doesn' t have 1/4-20 threads
to secure it tight. Remove it and see it it has good threads, if not re- order a new one with threads.
