Default Stops shortly after spin or during agitate
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: sav405deww
Age: 1 - 4 years

OK.....Here it goes.

Washer fills, agitates, switches to spin cycle. Shortly after spinning, a noise comes from the washer for about five seconds, and the washer stops. I can move the selector to the spin cycle and drain the water out completely.

Sometimes the noise occurs during the agitate cycle and the washer stops. It always stops several seconds after the noise starts. The noise happens every time, however, at different times during the cycle. Most frequently it is happening after the cycle starts to spin.

Its like something is jamming up sometimes and causing the motor to overload and cut out.

I am confused. Haven't found any similar situations reading through all of the topics.

Thanks so much!

DREW

Where is the noise coming from?

Is it coming from the timer or down under the tub?

Here is a link to your washer model sav405deww.

Default washer

Coming from under the washer tub. Can't pinpoint exactly what part. It is a dull noise. Not a high pitch belt squealin' type noise. More of the noise a motor makes when it is bogged down.

Remove the front panel of the washer and run it and see if you can tell better where the noise is coming from and what is going on.
