Default Start machine knob does not engage
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WWSR3090T2AA
Age: 5 - 10 years

Start machine knob does not engage so the wash cycle cannot be selected or started.
On the last wash cycle that was working, we heard a pop sound.
It seems that something got broken?
The repair man said that the electrical part had disengage from the mechanical knob piece, so we need to either get a new part (cost $150+) or make a clamp to push the
electrical part forward to make it engage with the knob piece and secure it.
It seems to be a defective design. I wonder if we can call General Electric to get a new part without charge? We bought this machine from someone else though.
Thanks for any thoughts, suggestions, opinions.

If you can not select the cycle with the timer knob you will have to replace the timer.

Here is the timer. Is this the part the repair man was referring to?
