Default Spins, water drains, cloths at bottom of tub and are still wet
Brand: White-Westinghouse
Model Number: LA450MXW2
Age: More than 10 years

I own a white westinghouse washer, over 15 years old. Water
drains completly from washer, clothes sit at bottom of the tub instead
of being at the sides while spinning. Clothes are still full of water
when cycle is complete. I've been told the clutch is out in the
transmission and that this will be expensive to repair.

If could be a problem with the motor or the timer.

The motor must reverse to make the drum spin.

Do you hear the motor running in the spin cycle?

Remove the front panel to see if it is as you may be hearing the pump motor running.

Here is a link to your washer model LA450MXW2.
