Default Spin cycle not working
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: lxr7244j02
Age: 1 - 4 years

My whirlpool washer will run through all the cycles, but on spin cycle the agitator will run but the tub won't spin. If I take the clothes out of the basket, the spin cycle will work.
Is the agitator suppose to run during the spin cycle?
And is there any advice on why the spin cycle will not work?

Thanks for any help!

Hi. During spin the agitator should move in sync with the tub.

When the machine is in the spin cycle is the agitator moving back and forth (like it would when in the wash cycle), or is it just turning in one direction? You might need to bypass the washer's lid switch in order to see this.

After the main wash part of the cycle before anything spins it should drain almost all of the water. Then it will pause slightly and then start the spin part of the cycle. Without anything in the washer does it sound or feel like the tub is moving while it is draining the water out?

To avoid confusion, let me explain my agitatorthe way I see it. The round plate like part at the bottom of the washer and the pole-like part that sticks up from the round agitator. The pole part always rotates in the direction that the basket spins. The plate agitator moves back and forth.
The water drains out properly at the end of the rinse cycle. When all the water drains out and the spin cycle starts up, the round agitator at the bottom keeps moving back and forth. The pole agitator rotates in the same direction the basket is spinning. Because the agitator plate at the bottom keeps moving back and forth when there is no water, the clothes wrap around the pole and prevents the basket from spinning.
Thanks for your help!
