Exclamation Speed Queen leaking oil into wash load
Brand: Speed Queen
Model Number: AWM593W
Age: More than 10 years

We bought this washer in 1993. It's needed it's usual repairs over the years, but overall, it's been pretty good. Just this year though, we've noticed oil spots on our clothes. At first it was occasionally, now it's every load. My wife's sister has a 20 yr. old Maytag that leaked oil too, but onto the floor. The (independent) repairman said she should be glad she has a Maytag because it is the only make that will not leak oil into the wash tub. She held onto it for another 10 years. Anybody experience this? Is it true about Maytags? Any easy way to fix the Speed Queen? Someone said it's a major pain in the *ss because it's most likely the transmission seal.

Yes it is likely to be the transmission that is leaking.

There is no easy fix other then a new transmission.
