Default Sounds like a 747!!!
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LAT9416AAE
Age: 5 - 10 years

I found and bought this washer from a friend the other day. it was loaded on a small open trailer and drive 5 blocks. My roomate and the son of the washers former owner lifted it off the trailer and carried up one flight of stairs and set it down.
After leveling and double checking it was hooked up and run through a wash cycle. During that wash I noticed about a cup of water on the floor twice. The belt squeeled andsmoked a couple of times.
The BIG PROBLEM was when it tried to go into the pin cycle. At first it ( the tub)wouldn't move.after hand turning the drum it began to go. WOW IT SOUNDED LIKE A 747. It is (continues to do it after 4 loads) so loud I bet the neighbors can hear it. My roomate said it was a METALLIC GRINDING sound.
What could it be?? I remember seeing roomate and helper really struggling up the stairs. they had that maching every which way exce[pt upside down.
Could something have fallen out of place??
The previous owner said they had it outside running last weekend at their garage sale W/ no problems. Please help! what should I look for??

Sounds like you have bad spin bearings, do you think you were sold a lemon?
If the tub seal is leaking water,on the bearings, they rust and in a couple of months they sound like a roaring fraight train. I'd return it.Bettyboop
