All front loaders smell like that, because they's allways standing water in it, keeping the built up soap scum damp and moldy

Default Smelly washer - solutions from my repairman

I have a Fridgidaire that has the same smell. It is inherent of the design of all front loaders my repairman said. Try running a load with Cascade Complete dishwasher soap and hot water. Other solutions he told me about were running just bleach OR running baking soda and white vinegar. I've also heard using Limeaway helps. There is also something you can try using a cleanser used for hot tubs that he recommended , but I haven't tried that. **You have to make sure to always wipe down the washer after use and it helps to leave the door open between cycles (if you can). There are a lot of forums on the internet -- look around!! Good luck!!

Here is a link to what looks like a good forum on this problem
Washing Machine Smell
It is long but has a wealth of information.

A product called Affresh has been recommended by "kayakcrzy", a regular contributor to this site with a lot of experience

Your problem seems to be the norm not the exception
Looks like many folks believe that fabric softener is the culprit, it probably does not help.

Whatever cleaning method you use, you will probably have to do it a number of times. Once you do get rid of the smell, I would run a cleaning procedure on a regular basis.

Hope the above helps
Good Luck
