Default Slowly fills with water while switched off
Brand: Other
Model Number: W100FW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello there,

My machine has recently been playing up, or more accurately - been filling up with water. Its quite fast, over 12-16 hours it fills so that it reaches to the door level and pours to the floor.

This is how i first noticed it yesterday.

I turned the machine off first to see if this would help but it still seems to trickle through.

I turned off water supply to both hot and cold and unplugged both water inlet hoses to see which one might be the culprit.
Both were fairly dirty but the hot water inlet screeen was completely clogged with debris and dirt. I took out the screen thingy and cleaned it. I kept the hot water hose unplugged.

So far, a couple of hours later, there is no leak to the machine, so I suppose it is the hot water inlet valve?

When I looked at the back of the machine, it has a metal panel covering the inlet pipes, I took this off and it looks like there are three coils (solenoids) one on top of the hot water inlet pipe and two on top of the cold water inlet pipe.

I ran Creda the Washing Machine manufacturer and they say that there is only one valve on their books.

So can I assume from all this that I have a problem with the inlet water valve, or could it be something else and is this easy to fix myself? I am fairly handy at DIY and would like a go.

Many thanks for any advice Deirdre London UK

Yes the valve is your problem.

All though there are three solenoid it is classed as one valve.

Replace this and it will cure your problem.

Thank you.
Is this easy to replace, do I need specialist tools?
Might there be easily available a diagram and a.b.c. of how to do this?
My machine is a Creda W100FW

Many thanks for your advice Deirdre
