Unhappy Slow agitation and ticking noise
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: kaws85ogto
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a kitchen aid suberba washing machine. I hace changed the drive gear coupler (three prong) many times. Recently, it is making a ticking sound and the agitation is very slow. My thoughts are that the motor is burnt or on its way out. It can only due one small load a day, and now it seems really bad... I need to know if there is a starter, or capacitor i might change first, before the motor. any help would be appreciated...

Usually if motors run slow they burn up. However they can run slow if voltage to it is too low. You will need a meter to check voltage going to the motor, just refer to the schematic for wire colors to motor.

If voltage to motor is low, you have a burnt wire somewhere, or a bad pin on connector, timer or motor. It's also probable you have a bad centrifical switch on the motor. An amprobe would confirm the clicking noise is the switch acting up by interupting the power.

H, I have a Kitchen Aid Washer. It does not spin or agitate. The rattling noise seems to be caused by plastic parts spinning in the spot the motor is attached to the drive gear, so I thnk it's the coupler. Can you give me some tips on changing the coupler ? Thanks
