Here are a few thing you can check.

Try using the delicate cycle and see how it is working.

Does the motor sound diferent than it use to?

Can you stop the agitator with your hand?

The speed is the same on delicate as it is on fast. There is no difference in the sound of the motor and I can't stop the agitator with my hand. Any help will be appreciated. Can't seem to get a repair person to come look at it. I'm from a small town with only two repairmen and neither have returned my calls. HELP!

Your timer may be applying power to both high and low speed windings. Per. the schematic measure at the motor centrifical switch plug.

I checked again and I CAN move the agitator freely by hand. Is this something that can be easily fixed like tightening the agitator?

Might be a bad speed control switch, located on panel.
This has to be an electrical problem, but we are all working blind without meter data.

The Kenmore I am working currently working on has a clutch and cam sysytem for the top half of the "dual" agitator. See the parts diagram Partselect.com - Whirlpool Washer Parts And All Brands of Appliance Parts

The teeth on the agitator dogs round off and cause the top half of the dual agitator to stop working . The washer seems to agitate fine when at low or 1/2 full because the bottom half is turning via the direct drive and can be seen but when full, the water and clothes do not move becasue the agitator is stopped.

If this is the problem its a relatively cheap fix, less than 30.00 bucks.
