Sheila thanks for the advice per my washer problem. Your earlier conclusion that the water level was too high was absolutely correct. Local repair company thought it was the door and wanted to replace for $295. That would have been money down the drain.

Question:

I bought a new pressure swich for my machine.

I took off the old pressure switch along with the rubber cap it fits into. The cap sits on top of a T fitting that feeds down nto the drain line. I took a mirror and looked down that pipe. Looking down the pipe it is completely blocked by a substance that is puttylike and grey. It starts about 1" below the top of the pipe.

Is it typical for this much build up in that pipe? Is this detergent build up? I am going to install the new switch anyway but is this buildup the likely reason the swich did not work?

Thanks

It could be a combination of dirt and soap.

It might have been bad contacts in the switch.

Glad I could help.
