Default rinse doesn't work
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LA5800XSW1

For a while now, I notice my clothes seem soapy when they come out of the washer. I thought in the beginning I had actually used too much soap but I realize now that is not the case.

The clothes are slippery and appear as though they have not been rinsed. When I took out my husband's white shirts, they were foamy and not crisp and squeaky like they should be.

It seems the rinse cycle is not working. Does anyone have any idea what would need fixing?

I have a Whirlpool LA5800XSW1

thx for any help

I've had similar problems w/ a washer once but ours is not a whirpool. Anyway, after tinkering with it, I found the problem was with the electronic control. It simply skipped the rinsing cycle.

Thx for the respone. That actually makes sense because what was confusing me was when I look at the dial, it shows it in the off position. So in the beginning, I thought the clothes had gone through the rinse cycle.

So does that mean if I have the electronic control replaced, I should be okay. I wonder how much labor that is?

The control with our washing was a dial-type and when I took it out, the mass of multi-colored wires was quite confusing so I called for one of my good buddies who was a plumber and electronic technician. He jury-rigged it for me so I can control the rinse function manually. It cost me a case of beer.

Maybe yours has an electronic control???

Maybe it does. I am just so sick of this situation. Running to my mother's to do the laundry all the time. I guess I either need to call the repair fellow or buy a new washer. I'd love to have one of those front loading machines. Not sure if it is in the budget

I have this same problem, I was wondering if an overflow hose might be stopped up and the water which wasin the washcycle does not fully go out so you have soap in the rinse water?
