Default Removing washing machine tub
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MAV8000AWQ
Age: 5 - 10 years

I am trying to confirm and get at a bearing problem in spin cycle. Makes a bad bearing sound. I have removed the agitator and the 4 screws holding the tub to its attachment below. I cannot lift the tub off the shaft. This model was supposedly made by magic chef now a part of maytag. I was told special tools may be required make the separation on this model. Or is it just stuck? Thank you

Once the four screws have been removed you should be able to remove the tub.

It must be stuck.

Here is a link to your washer model MAV8000AWQ.
