Default Removing Top on Washer
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LAT8416AAE
Age: More than 10 years

I've diagnosed the failure with my washer but can't figure out how to get at the part so I can replace it. The part that needs replacing is the lid switch actuator spring but for the life of me I can't figure out how to take off the top of the washer so I can get at it.

I've taken the "console" off, removed the top switch, managed to dig out the actuator switch (plastic sliding part and the metal part that actually triggers the switch) but I can see that there's no way to replace the spring without taking the top off and I can't find any screws to do so!

I know...dumb!

This is a Maytag LAT8416AAE.

This diagram shows two slots in the front that the spring clips fit in. Use a putty knife or butter knife and pry up on the top at the spring clip to pop it out.Maytag LAT8416AAE Parts List
