Question Reg Wash ok but Not Perm Press or Delicate Motor starts & stops every second.
Brand: Amana
Model Number: LWA40AW2
Age: 5 - 10 years

Really need some help. Or even if there is another forum to post on? I've worked on Whirlpool / Kenmores enough but not Amana and never had this problem before. The timer is too expensive to replace just on the chance it's the problem. Thanks in advance for any help.

Reg Wash ok but Not Perm Press or Delicate Motor starts & stops every second. It makes loud sound each time it tries to start and dims lights in garage from the load. I think the problem must be in slower speed control. But I'm not sure where to start.

From what you are saying there is a problem in the motor.

It sounds like the winding in the motor for the slow speed has failed.

If it was the timer contact the washer would not try to start.

Here is a link to your washer model LWA40AW2.
