Default Question about Seal Head (part # 400115401) replacement

I just ordered a Hub Seal Kit to repair my Amana LWD 35 AW and I have a question about the Seal Head (part # 400115401) and Seal, Shroud (40016201). The instructions are not very detailed so i cannot tell if the the beveled end of the seal shroud go towards the bronze ring at the top of the seal head or does it face towards the bottom of the seal head?

Also, can you use RTV silicone to seal the seal head to the tub?

Thank you for your time.

Wrap cord under agitator, then tie it around a long 2by4, using leverage pry the agitator off.

I figured it out. The beveled goes toward the bearing side of the seal head.

Dear Jeff,

I need to replace bottom seal in my Amana washer. I removed everything except hex nut and hub. How did you break them apart? Wll be very thankful for you advice.
Best regards, George.

I took a metal chisel and used a hammer to loosen the nut. I stopped by a small appliance repair shop and that’s how the guy told me to do it. It does not have left hand threads so unscrew it the regular way.
