Default Pumps water out spins slowly
Brand: Magic Chef
Model Number: w20fn2
Age: More than 10 years

Washer works well in all cycles except spin. Water is pumped out fine in spin cycles but will not spin fast enough to wet /dry clothes. Sometimes needs to be spun by hand to even start spinning. Motor appears to be turning at normal rate but there appears to be slipage between drive pully and transmission. Have replaced belt but no help. Read somwhere that there is a trans pully & bearing repair kit that might solve this. Is there such a kit for my washer? I also noticed a thrust washer in the trasmission diagram which might help solve this. Your comments will be appreciated.

Check to see if the motor is moving freely on the motor plate.

Check the break solenoid for proper operation.

Check the belt for proper tension.

Here is a link to your washer model w20fn2.

Checked out your three sugggestions and all those areas seem to be operating fine.I am thinking of replacing the lower bearing, thrust washer and bearing just above the thrust washer since drive shaft seem to be turning up to speed but weak spin. What do you think?

If the bearing are bad you will have a loud rumble when the was tries to spin.

Is the break releasing all the way to allow the tub to spin?

Thanks for the quick reply. Brake releasing but may still have some drag. Will check out.
