Default Procedure for changin bearing
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LAT8826AAE
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi, my washer (Maytag LAT8826AAE) makes grinding noise on the spin cycle. I suspect bearing is bad. My understanding is that there are two bearings. One around the tub and shaft connection and second towards the lower end of the transmission. I need a procedure to change the second one. Can you guys help? Picture below shows the area I am referring to.

This bearing is part of the tranny and I think it is not replaceable.need a new tranny.
This bearing goes bad due to a water leak, usually from bad tub bearing and seal.

Thanks for your note. What part you think I should be looking at replacing? I could not find tranny by itself.

I checked at Appliance Parts From PartSelect | Repair Parts For Major Appliances and found orbital tranny pn 22002126 listed at $199. Rather labor intensive for this. Might want to consider a new washer as you probably need new tub seal and bearing.
