Default Overfill , now smoke!
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MAH4000AWW
Age: 5 - 10 years

This started with with the washer overfilling. Read through the threads on here and replace the pressure switch today. Now when i tried to start it back up the start light would come on and then go off as soon as the button was released. Smoke started to emitt from under the control board. Any ideas?

looks like a diode right next to connection P5 on the motherboard. It is split open and scorched around the base of it . Wires are all hooked up the same ways they were for the last 10 years. All I have done is R&R the pressure switch.

What functions have you lost. Will the door lock now. You may have blown the triak servicing the wax motor in the door latch. There is a fix for this but need more onfo.

I shut the washer off when it started to smoke. Other than the smoke it had started up and was running normal. But it had just started the cycle when it started smoking. Should i try to run it ?

Default Unholy smoke MAH4000

I had the same problem just this past week. Came in to find a basket of laundry under the washer door full of water from overfill and door lock failure. I was able to force the load to finish but started getting bad burn smells.

Pull your control board out and look on the back side at the bottom where the 5 wiring harnesses attach. This is were my board burned up the copper wire runs at P2 and P7. I was told by the same guy that offers a control board repair kit for another problem for burned R11 & Q6 that my damage is irrepairable and must replace the $200 board.
Best of luck,
diggerboggs

I am thinking about making a hog feeder out of the washer and buying a commercial laundrymat washer for the house. Maytag boy has made a mint coming out working on this heap'o crap.
