Default Out of balance after changing coupler
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: 3357978 toploader
Age: 1 - 4 years

My first time changing a direct drive coupler so I needlessly pulled the agitator, removed the trans bolts, and pulled the whole motor/trans assembly out. After realizing my mistake and putting everything back (with the new coupler) the machine vibrates badly during spin. What did I do wrong? All the lower springs (there are none up top) are in place.
Any ideas will greatly be appreciated!

When you removed everything, the ballence plate got misaligned. It looks like a triangle metal plate resting on 3 brown teflon bearing surfaces. the tub section sits on this lined up with the points of the triangle. if it is off a little it will vibrate.
try lifting the tub section up and sitting it down and looking to see if it floats smoothly on this platform. If not lift and move it around till it runs smooth

Thanks! I remember the position of that plate being questionable. I'll check that out when I get to the machine tomorrow.
