My washer is broken and I am trying to fix it myself. The washer goes through its cycles well but the agitator in the middle does not move at all. I need to open the agitator up. When I tried i took the top part off and a small top that it under it, but I found myself with a screw that have no way of unscrewing. I have gone to all the appliance store to find something to unscrew it but the only answer I get is no.

The screw that you are looking at requires a socket to remove it but I'm not sure if the agitator is your problem.

You should check to see if the tub spins in the spin cycle.

The reason for this is there is a piece that goes between the motor and transmission called a coupler.

If the coupler is broken the washer will still go through the cycles and drain but the agitator will not move and it will not spin.
