Default Oil Leaking from Gearbox
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.28812790
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have oil leaking from the gearbox on the washer. I would like to replace the seal and replace the gearoil before I have to replace the gearbox. Is the seal available? I have tried to remove the gearbox but have been unsuccesful. I can't even figure out how to get the cabinet apart to acces the gearbox.

Yes the seal is available. The part number for the seal is PS334494.

If you take the transmission apart to add oil you will need a tube of sealant part number PS334445 as there is no gasket.

The oil that is used in the transmission is SAE60. This oil is a non-detergent and non-foaming.

The gear case holds 13 to 16 ounces of oil.

To remove the cabinet of the washer do the following.

Remove the decorative caps on the control panel of the washer.

Remove the screws behind each cap.

Flip the control panel up and lean it against the wall.

You will see a brassy looking clip in each corner, remove them.

Disconnect the lid switch wiring harness.

Open the lid of the washer and grasp the cabinet and tilt it forward and lift at the same time and move it out of your way.

You will now have to remove the inner tub to release the transmission.

Now when you remove the bolts on the transmission it will come out.

Here is a link to the parts of your washer model 110.28812790.
