Default Kenmore not spinning fast enough
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 11020942991
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hey there ,
I have a Kenmore washing machine .less than 10yrs old . For the past 6-8 months it wasnt spinning fast enough to wring all the water out of the clothes . Then last week it stopped spinng altogether . I replaced the drive coupler that was broken . So now it works again , but still at a slow speed .
From reading other posts on here can I assume its the clutch? How hard is that to replace and at what costs . I'm a TV repairman so I think I'll take a shot at attempting this . Any suggestion ? Any Advice ?

If you replaced the drive coupling your self you were 3/4 of the way there. Ok pull the agitator( remove 7/16" bolt from center of agitator) remove motor & pump, remove the 3 chrome 1/2 " bolts that hold the trans, and pull the trans out the bottom. if it sticks on you, push it back up and then yank it down harder. The clutch lining is in the center of the shinny dish shaped clutch, take a pair of channel locs, and pinch the lining spring and it will lift out, in the center prise out the spring retainer and remove the "e" clip and the whole clutch is out.
If the clutch is covered with oil, that means the trans is leaking oil on the clutch,
and may be you'll need a new trans. If no oil, the rivets are probably worn thru the lining and order a complete clutch kit Piece o' cake easy repair

Then once you get it fixed stop over loading it. Over loading it is whats causing you these problems.
