Default Not spinning all water out
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: PAV5157AWW
Age: 1 - 4 years

My Maytag washer just started to have 4 inches of water when it was done washing, leak on the floor, and one time vibrated a foot across the floor in the time it took me to reach up and turn it back off. The last 3 or 4 times I just set it back to the spin cycle and it spun the water out fine. The washer is only 4 years old. Any ideas?

Check the belt for wear. Pull front panel off and check for white shavings under tranny hub and check for leaking water above the top of the tranny. Post results.

You have a bad snubber and housing below the tranny plus a leaking transmission. Transmission might be covered under warranty, please check your users manual.

Default the fix

I pulled the front cover off the washer and could not find any shavings, I watched it operate and found that the belt was slipping and was not spinning the pump fast enough to eject the water into the drain. I replaced the belt and the washer works properly now. I still may have a problem with the oil leaking into the drum but the last few loads there was no oil present. I am hoping that what I thought was oil was really soap residue or something. Thanks fo the help and the speedy replies

You might have a center bearing and seal going sour. Just use a rope and 2x4 for leaverage with the rope under the agitator, and yank out agitator. Look underneath for oir leaking.
