Question No water in at all, replaced inlet water valve & still no water
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 417.99970800
Age: 5 - 10 years

No water making it in. You can hear it hit back of washer and a sound like motor running. The spin cycle still works. The agitator does not agitate. I have replaced the inlet water valve and the water hoses. Also removed the trap & such from the hoses to make sure that wasn't the problem but there is no change. I also bought a new pump but was told that isn't the problem so haven't changed it out.
Help!!!

Sounds like you could have a faulty pressure switch. You can test it by connecting a multimeter set to continuity (beeping) there should be one common lead, and the other 2 should have continuity based on full or empty.

CAUTION!!!!!!!!!!!.. If doing the continuity check, make sure that the machie is UNPLUGED!!! Many multimeters can not handle 120V going thru it when on Continuity, and also for safety purposes.

allthough i am not a service person but i have had this problem on 1 of my machines and found that the hose closer to the washer was clog on the washer side. it allso causes a humm when the water is trying to get in but can't get through the blockage.. before you pay someone to come see it try to check to see if it is clog allso disconect your hoses from the outlet water feed get a buckett and turn it on see if water goes into the bucket may have been clog at the sorce or may have another water shut off somewhere in the house ..
