Default No spinning
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LXR6232EQ0
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a Whirlpool LXE6232EQ0 that started making loud noises a few weeks ago. Now, the water drains but it doesn't spin anymore. When it reaches the spin cycle, I can hear the motor running but nothing happens. I also cannot turn the barrel manually. The agitator still works. Does that mean that I can rule out a problem with the coupler? What else should I check?

Hi,

If the coupler is bad it will not agitate or spin, but make sure you try the agaitate again after you found out it no longer spins.

I can't tell you how many times I have been to someone house and they have told me it agaitates, but does not spin. Yet when I check it I can not get it to agaitate or spin because the coupler is bad.

Many times people think it still agitates, because it was agitating the last cycle, but they never tried it again after the found out it did not spin.

Here is a repair guide for replacing the coupler.

How to replace motor coupler

If the coupler is ok I would take a look at the grear box (tranny) and see if it is leaking oil. Look at the clutch on top the gear box to see if it has oil all over it making it slip.

Then check the drive block under the agitator to see if it's slipping during spin.
