Default No fill on small load size
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WJSR4160SAWW
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hello. My wife ran a load on the small load size and the washer ran for hours through multiple cycles. Now, when set on small load, it doesn't fill--just starts agitating. The machine seems to work ok on the other load sizes (medium, super). Also the knob doesn't seem to click into position on the small setting.

My guess is that the pressure switch is stuck on full for the small setting (even though i don't get a positive click on that position). Do I need a new pressure switch or is there a way to make it click into position again? Maybe if it clicked into the "small" position it would work correctly.

Thanks for any advice.

You are correct. You need a pressure switch. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Thanks for the reply. Do you think I would be safe just using the medium and super settings? Because I rarely need the small setting, I am mostly concerned that the switch will fail and the tub will overflow, but it seems to be failing safe (false full indication) so far.

I would not walk away from it, when you run it. I have seen to many flooded floors. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Cool front load washer won't fill

I had my heat go off and the washer froze, breaking the fill valve. I replaced the valve. Now it fills for about 3 seconds and stops. Now the question, should this washer fill, with no clothes in it?....Or does the pressure valve shut-off the water inlet valve, cause there are no clothes in it?......I have a Kenmore front loader, model # 417-44082400. It's a 2005. One repair guy said to buy a new control board. That is a costly maybe thing to do, since the washer worked before the inlet valve broke. We live in Alaska, and parts take a long time to get....cheers!....K
