Default Newbie Need Help
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.29892990
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hi,
I need help on Kenmore 80 Series washer s/n 110.29892990 problem. First, the water overflowed so I replaced the water level/pressure switch (after searching and reading some post related to water overflowing). After replacing the water level switch, the water level seems to be working fine now. But there is another problem that I noticed. It will not fill water for rinse cycle, so I will let the machine finish by itself. But whenever I start the washer on again, it skips the fill cycle and immediately begins aggitating no matter what position the timer is on.

TIA,
CP

Is the washer agitating without any water in it?

And when you set the timer to the spin cycle it still agitates?

I am not sure that I under stand what you are saying please clarify.

Here is a link to the parts of your washer model 110.29892990.

Hi Sheila,

Thanks for the reply.
Anyway the answer to your questions are......

Yes, the washer is agitating without any water in it and when I set the timer to the spin cycle it still agetates. But there is a time that when I turn it on from the beggining it will work fine until before rinse. It will skip filling water and will agetates without water until it finish.

thanks,
cp

OK first check to make sure that you have wired the pressure switch correctly.

There should be a pink, a tan, and a violet wire.

The terminals on the pressure switch should be labeled P,T, and V.

If it is wired correctly then there may be some contact in the time that have welded together.

This would mean the timer will have to be replaced.

Puls, here is what I want you to do. Turn the washer on, to the fill cycle, and set in on cold water only. Does the water come in?. If not make sure the cold water valve is turned on. The washer does a cold water rinse. If you have no cold water, that will be your problem. Let me know what you find, and if you then still have the agitating problem, with no water, I can tell you what to check next. I can be reached at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Here is what happening. When my wife start the machine it will work normal until the rinse cycle. At rinse mode it should fill water again but it doesn't do that it will skip the water filling part and it will just agitate without water on it. So I played around with the water level switch and I noticed that when I put the water level switch in between two position (like between the DOT after medium load and large load or between any dots in water level switch the water will flow, i have to hold the switch in between dots). Then I will let the machine agitate and let it finish to the end. So after that she will put another load but at the beggining this time the machine will just agitate in any position in the timer (by the way the timer is also new. I just installed a new one today). Hope that helps.

TIA,
cp

Puls, turn the washer on wash, and select cold water wash, if not water comes out then clean the valve first, and try it again If no water still comes out, replace the valve. If you said you replaced the water level switch, make sure the hose that goes on the switch is on. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the quick response. Just to let you know the water does flow at the very begging. It will not fill water only when it reach the rinse mode (where it suppose to fill water again) and that is the time when I hold the water level switch in between two dots or between two positions. Then I will let it finish to the end. Then if I put a new load, at the begging it will not fill water it will just agitate no mater what position the timer is on. Also, there is a time that it will just keep feeling water no matter what position the timer is on (just found out from the wife).

TIA,
cp
