Default New inlet valve, washer still won't fill
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LAT8650BAW
Age: More than 10 years

Washer won't fill with water on any setting (hot or cold H2O), but agitator / spin cycle still works. No leaks in either hose, water comes through hose fine. I even removed rubber washers, made sure no obstructions, and replaced washers.

Removed the water inlet valve, showed it to the appliance store guy - he said it was the problem.

1. Bought a brand new valve - correct part
2. Connected all 4 solenoids as they had been connected before
3. Reattached the hose and tightened the clamp
4. Screwed plate into place
5. Connected hoses
6. Turned water on, checked to make sure no leaks
7. Plugged washer back in

Still, same result. No water comes into machine, but agitator / spin cycle still works. Any advice? I'm nearly at wits end on this matter. Thanks for your help!

Hi,

You said the agitator / spin cycle still works.
Does it agitate without water in the tub then?

It should not agitate until it fills with water.

If the washer does agitate without water then something is not right with the water level switch. Slide the water level switch up and down a number of times and see if it starts to fill.

The water level switch maybe bad or the air tube that goes to the switch maybe kinked or plugged on the end.

The spin cycle runs but nothing else, it does not agitate. My bad.

Though I am agitated by the washer.

Do you still think it could be the water level switch or the air tube? If so, where would one find these devices on the Maytag?

The water level switch is the part you slid up and down to adjust the water level.
The air tube goes from the bottom of the tub up to the back side of the water level switch.

Do you have a volt meter you can us to check voltages?

No volt meter. Does that make me out of luck? Where can I find the water level switch? Color me a novice at this. Thanks.
