Unhappy Neptune - No spin cycle
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MAH4000AWW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Unit will not go into spin cycle. Found 120 vac to Door Wax Motor, but it won't force the latch to lock. Removed wax motor and pulled apart to find it was burned out. Will replace wax motor, but don't want to spend the money if the burned out wax motor fried the main board, or created some other problem that is too expensive to fix.

Removed door and top to access wax motor/latch assembly, and manually simulated a locked door by latching, and then forcing wax motor detent into place to engage the 2 different solenoids, and pushed in door closed button, but unit won't go into spin cycle. ON and DOOR LOCKED lights are on. Unit will wash, and fill with water, but will not spin.

Any ideas folks?

Howdy, Kenny here, just want you to know your not alone....I've done everything you have done but to no avail.
I have simular problem but different model. I have the super stack model mle2000ayw. I have replaced the wax motor twice along with a new control board but the problem is still there. I was looking at the wiring diagram and the next thing in line is the timer.
Hope you can fix your problem it sounds like we maybe able to help each other;if you have the larger control board you maybe able to get by with just the R11 or possibly the Q6 capasitors if they are burnt you can see it easily....those you can fix with a little soildering.
There are some other places you might check for those parts if there not available here. Good Luck Kenny

Free Motor & Bad control board.
My '99 Maytag Neptune (MAH4000AWW) stopped spinning. After running the diagnostics (sheet hidden inside top control panel) I've determined the motor control board must be bad. No visible damage, but 3 phases are not outputting normally. And testing each phase coil on the motor shows normal 2-3ohms, so I think the motor is good.
From reading these forums, I know there are a lot of DIY'ers who like to repair these at the component level, and I thought it would be a crying shame to toss a good motor (I think) and a control board that has no visible damage. So, if anyone would like this board, harness & motor and you're willing to pay the shipping, let me know, I'll hang onto it for a few months an toss it if no one contacts me. My email should be accessible from this forum, it's : mjheed@aol.com. I'll check it at least once a week. -Matt

ps. I bought and installed the $214 motor conversion kit (which comes with a new Motor, harness & control board) and it's working fine now.
